Center for Engagement with Communities, Whittier, CA – Community Outreach Coordinator/Intern                                                                                                                               

September 2019 – December 2022

– Provided logistical support to the Director on numerous community outreach projects. Ran point on research, event planning, programming preparation, interpersonal outreach, and other various administrative tasks. 

– Utilized interpersonal communication skills to facilitate partnerships with local Los Angeles based non-profit organizations. 

– Promoted community events and coordinated social media campaigns to increase engagement and followers. 

– Utilized Canva to create flyers, email blasts, infographics, and Instagram posts/stories.

– Oversaw the recruitment of  students for volunteer opportunities. Spearheaded the creation of a bi-monthly newsletters sent to our community partners regarding upcoming volunteer opportunities. 

– Assisted in creating a curriculum for group art therapy sessions for at-risk high school students in East Los Angeles. 

– As an intern for the College Readiness Mentoring Program, organized, promoted, and led virtual workshops aimed at providing support for soon-to-be first-generation college students. Advised mentees on their college applications and assisted them with their college essays and personal statements. Lead weekly mentor meetings and assisted the mentors in their various projects and assingments. 

– As a leader of our Civic Engagement Team, coordinated virtual events and social media campaigns aimed at raising voter awareness and increasing youth political participation.

– Utilized my fluency in French to provide academic assistance to students in beginner-level French courses. 

– Personally assisted a French professor by making copies of documents and organizing files.

-Worked alongside HarborMaster and Customs and Border Patrol to facilitate the arrival and departures of ships into the Anacortes Harbor.

– Created and executed an independent research project entitled, “How can we create a culture of consent at Whittier College?”

– Conducted confidential in-person interviews. Utilized SPSS to analyze quantitative data collected via online survey.

– Presented research findings to the Whittier College Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator.
